lady day ....

she epitomised jazz music, white flowers adorned her hair, her voice infectious, seductive and mesmerising. 
billie holiday. born eleanora harris, (April 7, 1915 – July 17, 1959) she was an american jazsinger and songwriter. nicknamed "Lady Day" by her friends holiday had an influence on jazz and pop singing. her vocal style, strongly inspired by jazz instrumentalists, pioneered a new way of manipulating phrasing and tempo.
critics have written that Holiday "changed the art of American pop vocals forever."
although she never underwent any technical training and never even so much as learned how to read music, she quickly became an active participant in what was then one of the most vibrant jazz scenes in the country. she would move from one club to another, working for tips. 
white gardenias worn in her hair became her trademark. she was a musical legend and sadly died an untimely death at the age of 44.
her emotive voice is one that will be remembered forever.
